The Brick Tile Company Recommending Lime Green Mortar
The Brick Tile Company, the UK’s leading supplier of brick slips, is now recommending Lime Green coloured cement mortar to its commercial and residential customers, as the perfect partner to its products.
Brick slips are a very popular way to bring style to any interior, from fireplaces and kitchens to feature walls in homes and retail spaces.
Increasingly, they are also used externally to add texture and interest to outdoor spaces. Cut from bricks, they are perfectly suited for cladding homes, outbuildings, retaining walls or even outdoor kitchens. Lime green’s cement mortar is perfect for use in any of these areas.
With its smooth consistency, Lime Green’s cement mortar is able to pass beautifully through a mortar gun or grout bag, making pointing the slips as easy as can be, and creating a beautiful finish.
The Brick Tile Company particularly recommends the York and Chalk colours for their slips which they describe to their customers as ‘cream’ and ‘white’ respectively.
Joe Burton, Brand Director at the company said ‘The choice of mortar colours is incredibly important for our customers, whether they want to blend in with the brick slip colour, lighten the effect or frame the slips with a contrasting colour. The mortar ultimately makes up about 15% of the look so it’s a big choice for the customer to make, and it’s important to have a product that looks good and applies nicely in all the locations our customers need, which is what we get from Lime Green. We don’t have issues with our brick slip installers, or DIYers applying the mortar.’
One particular project where the mortar choice was integral was in Coca-Cola’s pop-up merchandise store in Covent Garden. The design company, Big Production House, were given a brief of creating an attractive and notable backdrop for the store, the first of its kind in the UK.
From conversations with The Brick Tile Company, they had a sample panel of blend 4 brick slips, in keeping with the red of the brand, but that wasn’t enough, the mortar needed to work too. Lime Green chalk mortar was a perfect fit to complement the blend 4 colouring, but also to keep those colours in the company branding, all approved by Coca-Cola head office in Atlanta.
The smooth mixture then also allowed the installer, Dunkley Brick Slips, to be able to complete the job quickly and efficiently, to allow all of the fixtures and fittings to go in, and for the store to open on schedule.
